Don't show the VS Code welcome screen

Go to File > Preferences > Settings and search "Startup Editor" Then choose "None" from the drop-down menu.

You can also go to:
File > Preferences > Settings > Workspace > Editor Management and check the box for > Welcome Page (workbench.editors.gettingStartedInput)

To access the Welcome page if needed you can:
CMD + Shift + P
Then search for > Help:Welcome
